Michael has worked in the financial services sector for over 15 years. Educated at Lancaster Royal Grammar School, he has a close affinity with the local area, but advises clients referred to him from across the country.
Michael is one of the founders of Burton & Fisher alongside his co-director Lee Fisher. Michael advises both personal and business clients on the whole spectrum of financial planning matters, including investment & pension advice through to mortgage and commercial finance.
Michael is qualified to the QCF level 4 standard and is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). In addition to working towards chartered status, Michael is one of the firm’s pension transfer specialists holding the CII accredited advanced pension planning (AF3) exam. This enables Michael to advise on the transfer of defined benefit final salary pension schemes.
Michael is able to offer the most professional, independent advice in relation to all areas of financial planning ensuring Burton & Fisher clients receive total clarity regarding their finances.
Lee is a Director at the firm and has worked as a financial adviser for over 20 years. He prides himself on offering clear, personal and independent advice to his clients and holds advanced financial planning qualifications in trusts an d pension planning.
Lee is qualified to the QCF level 4 standard and is also authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), to advise clients on the highly specialised areas of equity release (both lifetime mortgages and home reversion plans), together with long term care planning.
Lee holds an LLB honours degree in Law from the Manchester University of Law. In addition he is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Personal Finance Society.
Russ has been providing financial advice to clients in the local area for over twenty five years during a long career in retail banking.
Russ has level 4 Diploma status and is qualified to advise on all aspects of financial planning including Retirement Planning, Investments and Life Insurance. Russ is also our Pension Transfer Specialist and holds the coveted Level 6 Award in Occupational Pension Transfers which allows him to advise on Defined Benefit Final Salary Pension Schemes.
Russ is also our workplace pension specialist and helps local businesses implement their Auto Enrolment requirements.
Russ is a school Governor at Ripley St Thomas and the Gift Aid Secretary at St Thomas Church. In his spare time Russ also volunteers for the chaplaincy department at the Royal Lancaster infirmary..
Jenny has worked within the mortgage and general insurance team for several years and already knows numerous existing clients personally.
Jenny has extensive knowledge of the general insurance and mortgage market and prides herself on offering excellent customer service.
Jeremy has over 20 years of working within financial services, predominantly dealing with the administration and technical aspects of SIPP and SSAS pension arrangements, in particular using pension funds to purchase commercial property.
He now enjoys drawing on his pension and investment knowledge and experience and provides technical support and para-planning services for the firm. He is well qualified and is progressing towards obtaining the advanced diploma in financial planning.
Rebecca is the firms office manager.
She also undertakes the role of assistant Paraplanner and holds the level 3 “Certificate In Financial Services” qualification.
She has over 28 years’ experience in banking and finance.
Cathy joined the team in 2017 from NatWest Bank.
She is studying towards the Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (Dip PFS) and currently holds the RO1 qualification in Financial services, regulation & ethics, RO5 in Financial Protection and RO2 Investment Principles and Risk.
She also holds the Professional Banking Certificate, Certificate in Lending and Level 3 Providing Financial Services qualification.
Cathy also takes overall responsibility for the marketing and social media for the company and regularly attends women in business events and young professionals networks.
Laura is a qualified chartered management accountant and is married to the Director Lee Fisher.
Laura is Company Secretary at Burton and Fisher.
Kevan Thorn is the firm’s compliance consultant and he works closely with the firm’s management regarding their objectives to provide quality financial advice.
He has 16 years’ experience in the financial services industry including banking, compliance and independent financial advice.
He holds the Diploma in Financial Services qualification and has worked in many different roles, so the experience he brings helps the firm to exceed the high standards set by the industry regulator.
Emma joined the team in October 2018 as an Administration Assistant.
Her career started at NatWest Bank where she worked for 10 years in the Personal Banking Sector.
Over the following years she worked in various Administrative roles for companies whilst she raised her family.
Emma prides herself on being very approachable whilst having a friendly and helpful demeanour to the clients of the firm.
Lindsay joined the firm in March 2019 as our senior paraplanner and brings with her over 25 years’ worth of experience in various roles within independent financial services, having been a paraplanner for over fifteen years.
In this role she provides reports and technical analysis across all areas of financial advice and draws on her in-depth knowledge and experience to provide a first-class level of support to the advice team at Burton & Fisher.
Outside of work Lindsay enjoys reading, cooking and walking George the family springer spaniel!
