In today’s internet focused society, it’s even more tempting to look to the World Wide Web for the answers to our problems. From health concerns and financial issues, to everyday “hacks” to make life seem a little easier; the internet appears to be one of the most popular advice platforms available.
However, it seems as though physical financial advisors like us here at Burton and Fisher aren’t quite as redundant as many people have believed. Despite the amount of information available on the internet, people still prefer to come and speak face to face about their financial issues and receive real-time, tailored advice.
The Over 55 Generation
According to research by Retirement Advantage, people over the age of 55 are the generation who trust financial advisors above all other sources.
The survey spoke to 610 people, over 55, who had invested in private pensions. It found that 42% of them trust the advice that a financial advisor gives them over various other advice based services.
The survey found that 32% of the participants would trust advice from an internet source, and a smaller 13% who said that their main source of financial advice was from their spouse.
Solicitors and accountants were also ranked higher than spouses as a source of finance related advice, with 21% of participants citing them as their go-to for guidance with the same percentage preferring to ask friends or relatives.
The Future of Financial Advisors
Although there are many sites offering financial advice available to browse on the internet, in our eyes nothing can compare to the personal, tailored advice that financial advisors can give.
The financial advice available on the net is often quite vague, and won’t necessarily suit your situation adequately. This could lead to further financial problems down the line if certain aspects such as pension planning or investment haven’t been taken into account in the advice given on a website.
Rather than putting your financial future at risk, make sure you are visiting a financial advisor if you have any issues regarding your money. It’s our job to help you protect your money using our extensive knowledge of the financial sectors.
