When it comes to charity, here at Burton & Fisher we understand that as a local business we have a responsibility to contribute to the surrounding community each year.
Whether through rigorous fundraising efforts or welcomed donations, this is something that we wholeheartedly embrace – it can even become quite competitive in the office as we attempt to beat the total raised from the previous year!
So naturally, we felt a lot of (self-imposed) pressure to make our 2018 attempt bigger and better than ever. After considering several interesting ideas we finally decided that the best course of action was to host a charity golf tournament.
With help from some of our brilliant friends, the day was a great success – read on to find out all of the exclusive details, including who attended, how much we raised and the all-important question…who won!
Rosemere Cancer Foundation
Rosemere Cancer Foundation is a Preston based charity that provides support and funding towards world-class cancer treatment, specialising in financing ground-breaking technology to ensure that clinicians are always at the forefront of the fight against cancer.
In recognition of the vital work that the foundation provides, we decided to make Rosemere this year ’s nominated charity. After we pledged to help fundraise for such a great cause, friends, family, and even local businesses stepped up to help too.
Morecambe Golf Club
On the morning of Friday 22nd June, twenty keen golfers donned their collared shirts, grabbed their patterned jumpers and made their way to the stunning Morecambe Golf Club for a day to remember.
The game itself was a full course, stretching all 18 holes, and was played in teams of four to generate a real sense of competition! As all five teams battled it out on the course at Morecambe Golf Club, the sun shone brightly, ensuring that it was smiles all round during a fantastic day of fun.
The glorious stretch of brilliant weather was in full flow, providing the perfect setting for a charity tournament. Lee Fisher (Director, and self-proclaimed keen golfing fan!) called the event a “great day and a great success”, with an incredible £385 being raised on the day alone.
This figure was through entry fees and generous donations and was matched by Burton & Fisher, providing a fantastic £770 to go towards the magnificent work being undertaken at Rosemere.
And the Winners Are…
Recreationally, golf is no trivial pursuit. However, when charity is added into the mix, the results are spectacular – a fantastic day out for all guaranteed – with the added bonus of raising money for a good cause.
That being said, the golden question is, of course, who won? Holding the winner’s title at Burton & Fisher’s 2018 Charity Golf Tournament is the fantastic team comprised of James Russell, Tim Barbary, Matthew Catlow and Howard Dodgson (seen in the picture below from left to right in this order).
