Here at Burton & Fisher we firmly believe that it’s incredibly important to be involved in the community and participate in important causes, such as the annual Dragon Boat Regatta. Windermere will once again be home to this race, which intends to raise awareness for Paddlers for Life, a charity for cancer survivors.
This organisation will be receiving a fraction of each team’s entry fee to support the work they do and, once registered, each team has the possibility of choosing an additional charity of their choice. We’re participating in the race and contributing to Rosemere Cancer Foundation, an institution that seeks to provide the best care for cancer patients by supporting cancer treatment in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Dragon Boat Regatta, therefore, supports charities by offering an annual fun-filled day that anyone can attend!
What is the Dragon Boat Regatta 2016?
On the 11th of September of 2016, the Low Wood Hotel in Windermere will see businesses compete in a series of boat races for charity. In its third consecutive year, this race now has 30 teams and 6 boats on the water, which clearly showcases what a great cause it is and the interest it garners.
Not only will the Dragon Boat Regatta be a fun and dynamic day for all families that venture to Lake Windermere, but corporate teams can enjoy bonding with colleagues in a fun team building activity while competing for the trophy at the same time!
Burton & Fisher in the Race
Burton & Fisher are teaming up with Baines Wilson LLP to contribute to Rosemere Cancer Foundation. Our team has 16 rowers and one drummer to keep us all rowing together, and you can come watch us on the shore of the lake while benefiting from entertainment on dry land, like relaxing at the coffee café and enjoying a BBQ.
Children-friendly activities include a bouncy castle, plenty of ice cream and spotting the fancy dresses that will undoubtedly fill the shore – and the boats!
It remains to be seen whether we succeed or fail fantastically in this race, although we’re determined to come out on top. One thing is certain, however: we feel like winners already by contributing to such an important organisation, and we’re completely confident that you’ll have the time of your life watching the race.
While the teams participating in the Dragon Boat Regatta have the very important job of providing the entertainment, the audience offers the perfect atmosphere. The day is sure to be filled with colour and energy while raising funds for charity, and everyone here at Burton & Fisher is incredibly excited for it to arrive! If you want to contribute to the cause yourself, you can head over to our JustGiving page to make a donation – we welcome all contributions.
